Our Product Line
Aurora Lites makes color firestarters that burn in vivid blue and green, a bold Autumn Fire variant in crimson and orange, a no-color Classic firestarter, exclusive Campfire and Holiday Collections, and a Custom Dual-Flame Torch Lighter. Every firestarter is handmade in the Cascade foothills of Washington and built to perform in damp, windy Pacific Northwest conditions.
How Color Firestarters Work
Our color firestarters produce colored flames using mineral colorants that emit specific wavelengths of light when heated. The Signature Blue & Green firestarter combines copper-based compounds for the blue and green hues; the Autumn Fire variant uses a different mineral blend for crimson and orange. The Classic firestarter contains no colorants and burns a natural flame — pure performance, no color.
The color is most vivid in a dark setting and against a clean-burning base fire. Color intensity can vary with flame size, fuel, and ambient light.
Ingredients
Aurora Lites firestarters are made from a combustible base (wax and natural fiber) and mineral colorants. The Signature Blue & Green uses copper-based colorants; Autumn Fire uses an iron- and strontium-based blend for warm reds and oranges. Specific blends are proprietary, but all colorants are common, commercially available mineral compounds used in colored-fire products.
Colorant packets included in our collections contain mineral colorants in a sealed pouch. Toss the packet into an established fire unopened — never open a packet or pour out its contents.
Performance
- →Fast lighting — ignites in seconds from a single match.
- →Wind resistant — engineered to hold flame through Pacific Northwest gusts.
- →Damp-climate friendly — built to perform in rain, mist, and morning dew.
- →Burn time varies by product and conditions; individual firestarters are designed to establish a fire, not to be the sole fuel source.
- →Color is most visible after a base fire is established and in low ambient light.
Storage & Shelf Life
Store firestarters and colorant packets in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and open flame. Keep them in their original packaging until use.
- →Ideal storage temperature: room temperature, away from heat above 120°F (49°C).
- →Keep dry — moisture can affect lighting performance.
- →Store away from children and pets.
- →Keep away from flammable liquids and ignition sources.
- →When stored properly, firestarters have a long shelf life; for best performance, use within 2–3 years of purchase.
Safe Use Instructions
Firestarters are for starting controlled fires in designated areas only. Always follow local fire regulations, burn bans, and outdoor-use rules.
- →Use in a fire pit, campfire ring, fireplace, or wood stove — never on flammable surfaces or in unventilated indoor spaces.
- →Place the firestarter under kindling and light it; do not hold a lit firestarter in your hand.
- →Never add gasoline, kerosene, lighter fluid, or other accelerants — these are extremely dangerous with any firestarter.
- →Keep water, sand, or a fire extinguisher nearby.
- →Never leave a fire unattended. Fully extinguish the fire before leaving.
- →Keep children and pets a safe distance from any fire.
Torch Lighter Information
The Aurora Lites Custom Dual-Flame Torch Lighter is a precision torch lighter that switches between a red flame and an icy blue flame. It is intended for adult use only.
- →Keep away from children — store locked and out of reach.
- →Refill only with butane lighter fuel in a well-ventilated area away from flame.
- →Do not use near flammable liquids or in explosive atmospheres.
- →The flame is extremely hot — point away from face, body, and flammable materials.
- →Do not keep lit for extended periods; allow the lighter to cool between uses.
